I am only talking about it because it has become one of my top 5 favorite podcasts.
So far the podcast has talked about cloud storage, ssd drives, automatic backup solutions and a lot more that I have already forgotten about.
So if you find your hardrive capacity busting out the the seams in a structural mess or you are afraid that any minute you could lose all your data then I suggest checking out this podcast.
I dont know about you, but every Tuesday I can’t wait till someone post the video from Woz’s dance the night before. I can’t bare to site through the entire show, but I still get in as many votes as I can to help support.
Anyway, the video was just posted and I had to share it. So I hope you enjoy.
I meant to post this yesterday, but since I didn’t you will be getting 2 videos instead of one.
Before I just post the videos. I want to write a bit about why I picked these as this weeks TVP. Leo Laporte has been a huge influence for me and my techyness. I have gone from watching him daily on TechTV to listening weekly with MacBreak Weekly and TWiT (this Week in Tech) and for the last few month I have gone back to watching him daily with his latest live video streaming site, TWITLive. His podcast are second to none in the tech fields and the info and knowledge learned are unmeasurable.
So if your not a techy and could care less I strongly recommend you still check him out. His weekly, more basic and beginner, radio show podcast The Tech Guy is probably a good place to start and get hooked.
Below are two video of a little behind the scene interview of his live studio. I wish they talk a bit more about the equipment side of thing, but it is still very cool. Hope you enjoy.
So the basics are I saw Brian’s post about how Geek is better in the Nerd VS. Geek debate and it got me thinking.
But before I go any further lets take a look at Websters definitions
Geek
a carnival performer often billed as a wild man whose act usually includes biting the head off a live chicken or snake
a person often of an intellectual bent who is disliked
an enthusiast or expert especially in a technological field or activity <computer geek>
Nerd
an unstylish, unattractive, or socially inept person ; especially: one slavishly devoted to intellectual or academic pursuits <computer nerds>
First, I gotta say the first geek definition kinda surprised/scares me, but now back to my thoughts.
Obviously in the past 10-15 years the term geek and nerd have went from being insults to more of a (at least what I consider a) complement. The term geek seems to have become a bit more vague and mainstream then nerd. You see it used in marketing, company names, and even on TV shows, Beat the Geeks and Beauty and the Geek are the ones that come to mind. Even gamers consider themselves geeks now. Maybe that is why I’ve stuck to considering myself a nerd and not made the switch to geekdom.
But who cares about me and what I think. I really wanna know what you think, so here is my question:
Do you consider yourself a geek, a nerd, neither? And why?
(the “And why?” part brings back horrible school memories, if it does the same for you I apologies.)
I cannot predict the future for all, but with this blog and even more so with JokesAndJesus.com, I plan to produce more content online then every before.
To start this week off I’m going to be posting a couple of my iPhone App Reviews (if your sick of the iPhone I apologies, but I still love mine). I also plan to bring back the TVP (Tuesday’s Video Picks) post, where I will post a weekly video that I find, that either made me think or laugh and I will also post my Qik videos that I do with my phone. Including some info on my recent testing with installing the Mac OS on a Dell.
I plan and really hope to stick to a 2 to 3 (or more) post pre-week schedule. So if you see something interesting please shoot me and email and I’ll take a look and discuss it on the site.
I’m also planing to post some behind the scenes videos and info about Jokes and Jesus so keep a look out for those as well.
Okay, I know I haven’t posted much on here lately and for that I apologize. Things with Jokes And Jesus and the Holiday Season have used up all my free time, but either way I am back now and with the latest wordpress update.
The update was fairly easy and everything seemed to go very smoothly, thus far. The admin side of things seem to be a little slower then I remember, but all in all it is a good and well worth it upgrade.
I do plan to start updating the blog more often in the year 2009. So please continue to check it out.
Also, I will be doing a review of my new Drobo in the next day or two. I gotta say it’s a pretty sweet little device.
